The course is a blended one and uses a flipped learning approach, in which candi-dates will be guided to adapt materials and tasks for their students to work on at home, and following on from this deliver lectures that are scaffolded to aid student comprehension and interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As candidates on the EMI course will be familiar with their subject area, this course will primarily focus on the theory and principles of best practice in teaching in Higher Education establishments as well as the lan-guage required to communicate and instruct in English more effectively. Candidates will be taught to use a range of English language in different situations such as in lecturers, seminars and online discussions, and to design motivational tasks and adapt materials to facilitate the student learning process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The course consists of two modules with an unassessed third module, each module building from the other in sequential lockstep. For an extra fee, the third module is on offer for those candidates who wish to be observed in class using their materials and tasks. Candidates may choose to participate in all three modules in one given time or take breaks between them. The course content will be delivered through a loop input with interactive demonstrations in the first module and with opportunities for collaborative learning, reflection and transferability to the Candidates\u2019 own subject specialism and materials. Self-reflection is prompted through maintaining an unassessed reflective diary and an assessed final written assignment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, et suivant une tendance globale, un nombre croissant d\u2019enseignants du secondaire et du sup\u00e9rieur ont \u00e9t\u00e9 amen\u00e9s \u00e0 enseigner leur mati\u00e8re en utilisant la langue anglaise comme m\u00e9dium de transmission p\u00e9dagogique. L\u2019EMI est un terme g\u00e9n\u00e9rique incluant les enseignements EMILE. EMI signifie English Medium Instruction et est d\u00e9fini comme suit : L\u2019usage de la langue anglaise pour enseigner des mati\u00e8res acad\u00e9miques dans des pays dont la premi\u00e8re langue (L1) n\u2019est pas l\u2019anglais.\u2019 (Deardon. J. 2013) Dans une classe EMI, environ 70% de la communication se fait en anglais, ce qui signifie que la transmission des contenus, les interactions, les supports et les \u00e9valuations sont ou se font en anglais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nombre d\u2019\u00e9tablissements d\u2019enseignement secondaire ont recours aux enseignements EMILE dans leurs sections bilingues ou europ\u00e9ennes. Quand aux \u00e9tablissements de l\u2019enseignement sup\u00e9rieur, ils visent \u00e0 ce que leurs \u00e9tudiants excellent dans les mati\u00e8res acad\u00e9miques tout en acqu\u00e9rant une bonne ma\u00eetrise de la langue anglaise. Les recherches d\u00e9montrent que le temps d\u2019\u00e9tude effectu\u00e9 en anglais a un impact positif direct en permettant aux \u00e9tudiants de pratiquer et d\u2019approfondir leurs connaissances non seulement des mati\u00e8res acad\u00e9miques mais aussi de l\u2019Anglais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les enseignants se retrouvent donc confront\u00e9s \u00e0 la difficult\u00e9 d\u2019enseigner leur mati\u00e8re en anglais, qui n\u2019est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pas leur langue maternelle, et ont besoin d\u2019y \u00eatre form\u00e9s afin que l\u2019apprentissage des \u00e9l\u00e8ves et \u00e9tudiants se fasse avec succ\u00e8s. Candidates will examine the principles of EMI and As-sessment and practise the language of lecture delivery, instruction, elicitation and clarification techniques in micro teaching. They will examine appropriate interaction techniques in seminars and discussions, learn strategies for effective lecture delivery and language simplification, pronunciation and features of academic writing, and they will examine the principles of design in EMI materials and tasks. Candidates will be taught how to design language noticing tasks as well as tasks that can be measured against both content and language projected goals\/outcomes in preparation for Module 2. They will also examine various testing formats and assessment criteria with a view to designing and adopting those most applicable to their own teaching situation. They will be encouraged to self-reflect by maintaining a reflective diary on their development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Module 2<\/strong> consists of small Group Zoom tutorial meetings with an allocated tutor to agree on subject specific materials for task design. Critical evaluation of chosen materials is encouraged as is learner autonomy in this module. Candidates will be expected to choose a subject-related text to adapt and from which to design learner-centred motivating tasks and to design an authentic resource, the use of which then forms the basis of their fourth assignment. They will be supported in their choice and ideas of materials adaptation and task design by their tutor. Candidates will be asked to use the materials in their classroom and keep a reflective diary on their Teacher development at this stage of the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Module 3<\/strong> (optional and unassessed) consists of the candidates delivering lectures using their adapted materials from Module 2. Candidates will be required to record one of their lessons for assessment purposes or request a live observation. For transparency purposes, Candidates will be given a blank copy of the Tutor feedback form prior to Classroom teaching. Candidates will be asked to evaluate their performance and will receive verbal and written tutor feedback in this Module.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La formation est compos\u00e9e de :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Les participants travailleront avec leurs tuteur EMI et d\u2019autres enseignants en groupes d\u2019un maximum de 12, dans un environnement professionnel et d\u00e9tendu. Sessions en groupe ax\u00e9es sur le langage en classe et en cours magistral, les supports, l\u2019\u00e9valuation, la conception de t\u00e2ches et l\u2019enseignement entre pairs (en face \u00e0 face ou en ligne, de mani\u00e8re synchrone).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Module 2 \u2013 Adaptation des supports et conception de t\u00e2ches (70 heures). Les candidats enseignent \u00e0 leurs classes en utilisant leurs supports adapt\u00e9s et soumettent un cours film\u00e9 pour observation et retours.
